When you’re reading an article, tap the three dotted menu and select Listen (TTS). Pocket for Android has a built in functionality for voice reading. And the app can keep reading stuff in the background so you are free to use your phone as you please. Voice Reader also shows the text it’s reading in a floating window so you can scroll back up if you miss something. Not only will it read highlighted text for you, it will also let you read ebooks and parsed content just from the URL. Voice Reading is a powerful text-to-speech client for Android. You can’t share any text you’re reading directly to the app (like you can with the third party app listed below). It only works in apps that have expressly integrated the functionality – the most notable being Play Books. Google has its own text-to-speech app on Android and it comes installed on your phone. Now go to any app, highlight some text or an entire article and from the popup menu select Speak. You can customize the speed here as well. Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility and turn on Speak selection. These apps are perfect to use when you’re driving your car, taking public transport or just doing your daily chores. Cool Tip: Voice reading apps are also great for kids with learning disabilities as it allows them to process information without being boggled down with the complications of reading.
